Bolthouse Farms, Bakersfield, Calif., has closed its acquisition of Evolution Fresh from Starbucks, Seattle. The acquisition includes the brand, business, and employees supporting Evolution Fresh. By uniting the two powerhouse brands, Bolthouse Farms looks to further accelerate the company’s leadership within the premium juice and refrigerated beverage categories in retail, it says.

In celebration of National Green Juice Day — Jan. 26 — Evolution Fresh, a brand of Seattle-based Starbucks Corp., is offering veggie-centric ways to join the fun.
In an effort to encourage consumers to add more joy and wellness to their life, Evolution Fresh, a wholly owned subsidiary of Seattle-based Starbucks Coffee Co., has declared Jan. 26 as the first-ever National Green Juice Day. To celebrate, Evolution Fresh is teaming up with on-demand delivery service Postmates to deliver free Green Juice Breaks, a three-pack of 15.2-ounce, cold-pressed, high-pressure processed (HPP) Sweet Greens and Lemon juices, to consumers in 15 cities, the company says.

Super-premium green juice is outpacing the growth of the $1.6 billion super-premium juice category, according to Seattle-based Starbucks Coffee Co., citing data from Chicago-based Information Resources Inc. (IRI). Additionally, Greek yogurt, which five years ago represented less than 10 percent of yogurt sales, today represents nearly 50 percent, according to the market research firm’s data.*
