The National Honey Board, Longmont, Colo., announced that it is hosting its first Honey Spirits Competition aimed at recognizing distillers who use honey in their products.

Brockmans Gin, United Kingdom, a super-premium, new-style gin, was awarded gold medals at both the 2017 SIP Awards and the 2017 International Craft Spirits Awards. Brockmans, available in nearly 30 countries, has seen tremendous growth around the world and continues to build impressive momentum in the United States, the company says. 

More than 100 entries were submitted to the third annual Honey Beer Competition this year. Gossamer Wings from The Tap Brewery, Bloomington, Ind., took home Best in Show honors at the 2017 competition, hosted by the National Honey Board, Firestone, Colo. This year’s competition had 106 made-with-honey beer entries, which were submitted from craft breweries throughout North America, it says.

Mike’s Hard Lemonade broke the Guinness World Records’ (GWR) title for most candles on a cake. As the brand celebrated its 17th anniversary, it engaged its Facebook fans and torched the old record of 48,523 candles, set in 2008, by lighting 50,151 total candles.

The lunch-and-learn event featured three of the top beverage packaging manufacturers in the U.S. introducing new packaging innovations. These are innovations that can be expected on the shelves next to wines – or maybe holding wines – in the very near future.
