Michelob Ultra, a brand of St. Louis-based Anheuser-Busch, unveiled the newest innovation to join the Ultra family: Michelob Ultra Pure Gold. Michelob Ultra Pure Gold is made with organic grains and offers a refreshing taste with only 85 calories and 2.5 carbohydrates, the company says. Like Michelob Ultra, the new brew will be free from artificial colors and flavorings.
Carbonated soft drinks (CSDs) have long been the top seller in the U.S. beverage market based on volume. Last month, however, New York-based Beverage Marketing Corporation (BMC) announced that U.S. volume sales of bottled water eclipsed CSDs in 2016, making it the No. 1 consumed packaged beverage. This shift followed more than a decade’s worth of single-digit volume declines for soft drinks.
The 31st Annual Natural Products Expo East, which took place Sept. 21-24 at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, hosted more than 1,450 brands, including 450 first-time exhibitors.
