Expansion of partnership accelerated amid current environment

Boston-based Drizly announced an expanded partnership with BevMo!, a West Coast specialty beverage retailer, that more than doubles the number of the chain’s locations on Drizly.
My first true foray into online purchasing was trying to find discounted textbooks for my college courses. Since those days, my consumer packaged goods purchases online have spanned many markets: food, beverages, home goods, movies, etc.
Known as the place to pick up your meds along with those “few extra things,” drug stores are now exerting extra effort to compete with online retail giants, accommodate consumers’ growing health needs and demands, and leveraging technology to enhance their offerings.
Grocery retailers were thought to be somewhat protected from the threat of eCommerce. Amazon’s entrance into the market, however, brought the threat to life.
Euromonitor International, Chicago, released new retailing industry data alongside its report: “What’s New in Retail: Emerging Global Concepts.” The new research showcases how the rise of omnichannel and demand for convenience are boosting innovation within the retail landscape, the market research firm says.
As a baby boomer, I’ve never been a big online shopper. However, I did purchase a few items online this holiday season and was surprised at how easy it was. I capitalized on sales offers, didn’t have to look for parking or contend with crowded malls, and the items were shipped right to my home, saving me time, gas and aggravation.
For today’s consumer, researching products online is the new norm for consumer packaged goods (CPG). Consumers want to know more about the products they are purchasing well before they grab a shopping cart.

As consumer packaged goods (CPG) manufacturers get ready to transition into the 2016 calendar year, Chicago-based Mintel released its “2016 Food & Drink Trends” report. The 12 trends cover a range of topics including eCommerce and natural formulations.
Consumers are accustomed to placing a call to order take-out food and, in some cases, carbonated soft drinks for home delivery. Now, they’re increasingly doing the same for beer, wine and spirits.
