A survey conducted by Dig Insights and released in partnership with the National Coffee Association (NCA) and Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) reveals that adult coffee consumption hit a two-decade high.

Americans continue to show their affinity for coffee; but when they opt for this beverage, they are taking a more premium stance. “The coffee production industry exhibited growth over the past five years, propelled by an increasing number of consumers purchasing high-cost gourmet coffee,” IBISWorld states in its report “Coffee Production in the US,” which was released in January.

Demand for cups and lids in the United States are projected to expand 3.9 percent a year to $10.6 billion in 2020, according to a new study from The Freedonia Group, Cleveland. Gains will be supported by food trends that favor convenience and smaller portions, the market research firm details in its “Cups & Lids” report.
