Spirits, wine and beer preferences will influence trends

At nearly 33 million, U.S. Hispanics of legal drinking age (LDA) are important adult beverage consumers, and their influence will expand rapidly, according to Chicago-based Technomic Inc.’s “Special Trends in Adult Beverage (TAB) Report: Hispanic Consumer Insights.” By 2015, Hispanics will account for 15 percent of the total U.S. LDA population; by 2045, one-quarter of the U.S. LDA population will be Hispanic, it reports.
The United States received the name “the melting pot” in the 18th century by welcoming a diverse mixture of people into the country and melding them into one common culture.
Heineken USA Inc., a subsidiary of Heineken International BV, launched Tecate Michelada in 16-ounce cans in the western and central regions of the United States.
Accounting for more than 52 million people in the United States, Latinos are expected to represent the majority of the population growth during the next five years and have become prominent influences in all aspects of American life, according to New York City-based Nielsen’s “The State of the Hispanic Consumer: The Hispanic Market Imperative” report. Nielsen projects that the buying power of Latinos, which in 2010 ranked at $1 trillion, will increase 50 percent to $1.5 trillion by 2015.
Brands of Crown Imports LLC, Chicago, began new national multimedia advertising campaigns. Modelo Especial launched its campaign entitled “Descubre lo Especial” (“Discover What’s Special”) and Corona Extra released its “Refresca Como Somos” (“Refreshes How We Are”).
