SPINS data show wine varietal leading the category in terms of growth

On June 8, social media was inundated with hashtag #roséallday social media posts with the celebration of National Rosé Day. The popularity of Rosé, however, is not contained to just one day — more like all year, experts say. According to data from Chicago-based SPINS, wine sales (non-liquor store) are up 2.3 percent year-over-year with Rosé leading the category's growth, up 13.3 percent to reach a $704.9 million annual market.

U.S. wine exports, 90 percent of which are from California, reached $1.62 billion in winery revenues in 2016, a new record, according to the San Francisco-based Wine Institute. Despite challenges from a strong dollar, winery revenues were up 1 percent from 2015. Volume was 412.7 million liters or 45.9 million cases, it adds.
Delicato wines to be available in China, Hong Kong and Macau

Delicato Family Vineyards, Napa, Calif., announced a new partnership with ASC Fine Wines, a distributor of imported wines in Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau. ASC Fine Wines will have exclusive distribution rights to a select portfolio of Delicato brands, including Gnarly Head, Delicato Family Vineyards and Irony, the company says.

Silicon Valley Bank, a provider of commercial banking services to the innovation sector and the wine industry, released its “Annual State of the Wine Industry Report,” which forecasts growth of U.S. wine for 2014 but a decline in future years.
