Woodinville, Wash.-based Redhook Brewery, a part of the Craft Brew Alliance (CBA), has seen its water savings add up following the integration of a dry-run bottling conveyor from Emerson Power Transmission Solutions.
The bottled water industry is efficient when it comes to both calories and water use, according to a new infographic released by the International Bottled Water Association (IBWA), Alexandria, Va. Consumers can cut billions of calories by choosing bottled water instead of another packaged drink and support an industry that uses little water, it says.

Because water is key to its production processes, Hamilton, Bermuda-based Bacardi Ltd. has set new goals through its “Good Spirited” global sustainability program in order to become more ecologically responsible for the production of its flagship brand, Bacardi Rum, it says.
Manufacturers and operators of machinery and equipment for the brewing industry must develop a highly integrated approach to energy and media efficiency, starting from the delivery of raw materials, auxiliaries and resources through optimizing mashing and cooking processes, using compressed air, treating wastewater and developing sanitation systems.
