At the beginning of this year, New Belgium Brewing revealed a new look and feel with a portfolio-wide packaging refresh.

“Beer rangers” can’t be found in digital history books, but they can be found on their Ultrabook tablets, clicking their way across 30 states as they market the handcrafted wares of the New Belgium Brewing Co., based in Ft. Collins, Colo.

After Colorado home brewer Jeff Lebesch returned from a trip across Europe on his “fat tire” mountain bike in 1989, he began brewing an amber beer called Fat Tire in the basement of his Fort Collins, Colo., home.

Fort Collins, Colo.-based New Belgium Brewing signed deals with nine wholesale partners to distribute its beer in Ohio starting Dec. 16. New Belgium’s 22-ounce Fat Tire, Ranger India Pale Ale (IPA), seasonal release Accumulation White IPA and Lips of Faith beers will be available throughout the state as a result of the new partnerships. Some draught offerings might come online in the initial rollout as well.

New Belgium Brewing, Fort Collins, Colo., announced that the company’s Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP) has purchased the balance of company shares, making it 100-percent employee-owned.
