Tart cherry juice offers anti-inflammatory, sleep aid benefits

Geneva, N.Y.-based Cheribundi Inc. launched the Cheribundi 7-Day Challenge, which encourages consumers to drink tart cherry juice for seven consecutive days to experience the benefits of tart cherries.
Cheribundi Inc., Geneva, N.Y., announced that 32-ounces bottles of its same-named Tart Cherry Juice and Tart Cherry Juice Light now are available in the cold box and produce section at Key Food locations in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Tart cherry juice company to add 2,100 locations to distribution network

Cheribundi Inc., Boulder, Colo., announced that two of its top-selling Fruit Refresh blends, Lemonade Refresh and Cranberry Refresh, now are available in 2,100 Walmart locations. These products will be merchandised in the juice aisle.
Sensient Flavors LLC, a unit of Sensient Technologies Corp., introduced a line of natural, true-to-type varietal cherry flavors suitable for food and beverage applications.
As consumers’ taste preferences shift away from intensely sweet and toward tarter flavor profiles, cherries have an opportunity to fill the flavor gap, according to experts.
In recent years, consumers have embraced superfruits, such as pomegranate, acai, blueberry and cranberry, for their antioxidant content. However, certain cherry varietals also rank alongside the more renowned superfruits in terms of antioxidant content. Although the fruit has long been favored as a pie filling and ice cream sundae topper, cherry is still establishing itself as a beverage ingredient, but suppliers say that’s ripe for a change.
Old Orchard Brands, Sparta, Mich., announced a new line of premium juice made from pure tart cherry juice called Very Cherre. The 100 percent juice comes in multi-serve 64-ounce bottles and is available at select grocery and supermarket stores this month with national distribution expected mid-summer. Suggested retail price is $4.99 a bottle.
