Sustainability goals and consumer preferences drive new technologies

Trends such as sustainability and daily nutrition from packaged beverages will be some of the highlights at this year’s Pack Expo International 2012, Oct. 28-31 at Chicago’s McCormick Place. Beverage manufacturers also will find a number of targeted resources that will make their search for innovation easier, including the new Beverage Cooler Lounge.
The Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute’s (PMMI) Pack Expo International 2012 will be the largest edition of the show in a decade, with more than 1,800 exhibitors showcasing the latest in packaging and processing innovation across more than 1.1 million square feet of exhibit space, PMMI says.
The Reston, Va.-based Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute (PMMI), owner and producer of the Pack Expo banner of trade shows, announced that the International Society of Beverage Technologists (ISBT), Dallas, will sponsor its Beverage Cooler Lounge, which will debut during Pack Expo International, Oct. 28-31, at Chicago’s McCormick Place.
Processing technologies and The Processing Zone will make first appearances at the Las Vegas show floor for the Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute’s (PMMI) 2011 Pack Expo, the show’s 55th anniversary, taking place Sept. 26-28 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Today’s brand owners rely more than ever on packaging to entice consumers to purchase their products — so much so that the package itself often serves as a keystone of integrated marketing campaigns built out with print, electronic and social media components.
Cause and effect situations are prevalent on product lines in beverage manufacturing plants. Just as a jam upstream can cause proliferation of product downstream, palletizing equipment has been affected by industry trends toward higher line speeds and lighter packages, which has influenced new advancements.
