The puree has a tart, vibrant flavor, crimson-red color and smooth consistency that make it ideal for adding the flavor, aroma and texture of real fruit to a variety of fermented beverages, such as beer, hard cider, mead, spirits, wine and kombucha.
Pure Leaf, a product of The Pepsi Lipton Tea Partnership, announced the addition of Mint and Pomegranate flavors to its lineup of ready-to-drink iced teas.
With consumers increasing their scrutiny of what’s in the consumer packaged goods (CPGs) that they consume, beverage-makers are responding by providing more products made with recognizable ingredients, like domestic fruits. As more consumers look for simplicity and transparency, these ingredients have garnered more attention.
There’s an idiom that states to “feed a cold, starve a fever.” To stay healthy and prevent illnesses like the common cold, consumers increasingly are turning to foods and beverages that are high in natural, immunity-boosting ingredients like antioxidants.
Although the U.S. Dietary Guidelines encourage Americans to eat more fruit, more than half are traditional options, such as bananas, apples, strawberries and oranges. Yet, as the beverage landscape has gotten more complex and exotic fruits have become more mainstream, consumers are experimenting with exotic fruits, including guaraná, lychee, dragon fruit, tamarind, pomegranate and mango for their exotic appeal, natural sweetness and enhanced, functional capabilities, according to ingredient suppliers.
