New Belgium Brewing Co. collaborated with Midwest craft brewer 3 Floyds to develop Grätzer ale. Part of New Belgium’s Lips of Faith Series, the new Grätzer Polish-style beer primarily uses oak-smoked wheat but also incorporates Midnight Wheat malt, which provides a mild sweetness, as well as Polish Lublin hops, which offer a subtle, spicy note, the company says. With 4.5 percent alcohol by volume and 30 International Bitterness Units, Grätzer is sessionable and has a light body, despite its dark appearance, it adds. It will be available through September, while supplies last, in 22-ounce bombers and on draft.
