English distiller Black Cow Vodka introduced its Black Cow Pure Milk Vodka in Southern California and San Francisco. Created by a dairy farmer looking to diversify the productivity of his dairy herd and from his personal interest in vodka, Black Cow Vodka allows Black Cow dairy operations to be a total-use, zero-waste venture, the company says. Once the milk is split into curds and whey, the curds are turned into cheddar cheese, while the whey is fermented into a milky beer that is then distilled and blended using a propriety method to create Black Cow Vodka, it adds. The 80 proof milk vodka is packaged in 750-ml bottles that have a suggested retail price of $39.99.
